It’s a New Day
After a tough loss at home against the Dallas Stars, the Golden Knights will travel to the Xcel Energy Center to take on the 11-10-3 Minnesota Wild. This will be the first meeting between the two teams, and one which will see Erik Haula and Alex Tuch return to face their former squad.
“It’ll be a little weird being in that visiting room, and hopefully the fans don’t boo me,” Tuch told the Athletic on Monday. “Actually I’ve gotten a lot of tweets from fans telling me they were disappointed I was traded. I had great relationships with management and the player development people like Brad Bombardir. It was a hard goodbye, but I was excited to start the next chapter.”
The 2017-18 campaign has not been kind to the Wild with GM Chuck Fletcher showing his displeasure by calling the team “incredibly disappointing.” While they are sitting middle of the pack in terms of goals for, their defense has struggled in their own end. Sitting fourth in the league with an 11.3% shooting percentage, the Golden Knights should find their footing against a team which has allowed 30 goals in the last seven games.
If the past is of any indicator, Bruce Boudreau will most likely match his second line (+/- average of -3) against the top line of the Golden Knights. I see no reason why Gerard Gallant and his boys can’t secure a win in their first of two road games.
